The Inspiration for Mudita - Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati
Guru and Founder of Ananda Ashram, Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati, was a highly respected spiritual teacher. A prolific author on the science and philosophy of Yoga-Vedanta, he integrated the universal message of these teachings with his deep knowledge of both Eastern and Western medicine and psychology. His areas of specialty ranged from Ayurveda to modern psychiatry. Mudita Yoga
is inspired by his grace and teachings.
Sara began her yoga teaching career in Senegal, West Africa while serving in the United States Peace Corps. Living for two years in the village of Koumpentoum, she created and facilitated a yoga/wellness program for teenage women and taught other volunteers yoga as a means to relieve stress. She received her 200-hr YTT certification with Frog Lotus Yoga International in Portugal and has also completed abundant yoga trainings in Thai Yoga Massage, vinyasa flow, Ashtanga vinyasa, AcroYoga, ballet, Sadie Nardnini's Core Strength Vinyasa and more.
Sara currently teaches at Bard College in Tivoli, NY and Omega Institute for Holistic Studies, Inc. in Rhinebeck, NY where she offers a weekly yoga class for full-time staff in addition to her year-round position as Development Associate. Sara has also taught as Omega Institute Core Yoga Faculty and at the Omega NYC Conference in 2011. She strives for integrity, strength and grace in her teaching and believes in promoting holistic wellness as a means to seek awakening, encourage authenticity, and facilitate personal transformation.
